The resort's chefs presented an exquisite gala buffet menu, which featured the finest of five-course Western cuisine.
"The Aquarius dinner is a fun and exciting way to ring in the New Year. We always wanted to create something special for our guests who are away from home enjoying the festive season in Sabah, as well as the locals who are looking for a creative way to celebrate the New Year. We think the underwater theme is a perfect fit," said Mr. Matthias Roeke, the resort's general manager.
Guests also found that every restaurant and bar in Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort, Kota Kinabalu featured its own party to welcome the New Year, from magnificent set dinners for the entire family to fun with friends, romantic candlelight dinners and a buffet with special New Year delicacies. Guests also rang in 2008 on New Year's Eve at the resort's Peppino restaurant. Dinner began with a pre-dinner cocktail for guests featuring the Prosecco Toralta at Peppino Terrace from 7 to 8 p.m. Guests then proceeded to Peppino to indulge in an exquisite seven-course Italian dinner while being entertained by a pianist.
For guests who like alfresco dining, they joined Fred Flintstone, Wilma, Barney, Betty and other characters at Coco-Joe's on New Year's Eve to kick-start 2008 in a Stone Age way and savoured barbecue meals from the buffet line or choose the New Year's Eve buffet dinner of international cuisine at Café TATU.
Guests joined in the ultimate countdown party at Borneo Lounge and celebrated the coming of the New Year with entertainment by the D'Supernova band.
Also available for guests on the New Year's Eve at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa, Kota Kinabalu was the coyote's world at Blue Note, where the band, "DIG" lured guests to the dance floor as they sang the hottest hits all night long until the dawn of the brand new year.
