By partnering with the world\'s first off-grid, solar powered data centre, Lightbeing Creations offer everyone the ability to host their websites with a zero-carbon solution that will help combat climate change. Their California data centre is powered by 120 solar panels and was designed from the ground up to minimise it\'s impact on the environment. It has multiple redundant high speed Internet connections and a highly redundant, highly efficient network. This is supported by extensive UPS (uninterruptible power supply) batteries and a natural gas backup generator. Using clean solar energy, they save the equivalent of 107 gallons of fuel from being burned each year for each state-of-the-art server they operate.
Keeping with their commitment to the environment, Lightbeing Creations also powers their UK office with wind power supplied by Ecotricity, the world\'s first green electricity company. As if that wasn\'t enough, the company has made a commitment to continually assess and reduce where possible their energy consumption, then to annually calculate the remaining carbon impact. However, rather than buying into the nebulous world of carbon credits, Lightbeing Creations will be planting trees each year at the Landmatters Permaculture Co-operative in Devon.
