various activities for NRI\'s and guests. The activities including; Session on

Press Release Body: Recently (on 7 & 8 January), N.R.I. Institute organised two days
\'NRI DIVAS 2008\', Celebrating the Glory of People of Indian Origin. The function was
orgranised at Hotel Intercontinental The Grand at Barakhamba Road. The two-day
conference was attended by more than 200 NRIs and PIOs from the different countries.
During the two days conference, NRI Institute organised various activities for NRI\'s
and guests. The activities including; Session on Strengthening Indo-Trinidad &
Tobago Business Relationship, An exhibition by eminent British Artists, live
performance by Punjabi Pop Singer Captan Ladi & Dance Troupe and Reception by the
British High Commissioner to India H.E. Richard Stagg & Mrs. Stagg. During the
programme Pravasi Awards was presented to NRIs from across the globe. The awards
were conferred on the NRIs for their outstanding accomplishments.
It was a great time for the attendees, as they have watched the skills of British
Artists\' and scintillating performance by Punjabi Pop Singer Captan Ladi and the
Dance Troupe, which has mesmerized people who were sitting there. Everybody have
applauded the creativity of British Artists and the dance & song performance by
Captan Ladi.
On the second day British High Commissioner H.E. Richard Stagg and Minister of State
for Finance Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal presented the Pravasi Awards to NRIs from across
the globe. The awards were conferred on the NRIs for their outstanding
accomplishments. The Awardees included A Rajbansi - South Africa, C B Patel - UK,
Darshan Singh Bagga - USA, Dr Govind Saha - New Zealand, Dr, Shambhu Banik - USA,
Gino Ponin Ballom - Reunion Island, France, Jasjit S Jaaj - UAE, Mike Patel - UK,
Ravinder Kalsi - UK, Ravi Rajagopal - USA, Roopa Iyer - USA, T L Arora - UK,
Tarlochan Singh Bilga - UK and Graham Clarke - UK. The NRI of the Year was
presented to Mohd, Aslam Kaxi - Saudi Arabia and Lifetime Achievement Awards went to
B R Shetty - UAE and Lord Daljit Rana - UK. Raj Loomba of The Loomba Trust - UK was
conferred with a special award.

During the programme, Jagmohan Singh (Secretary Gen. NRI Institute) welcomed all the
guests and introduced them to the people. He said, \'NRI DIVAS 2008\' is a two days
festival dedicated to all the NRI\'s around the world. Through the festival we try to
invite maximum numbers of NRI\'s and provide them the best platform to introduce, to
exchange their views and work together. Also we have honoured these NRI\'s for their
outstanding achievements by presenting the NRI Pravasi Awards.
Talking about the institute, Jagmohan Singh (Secretary General, NRI Institute) said,
the NRI Institute is a registered NGO of Indians and People/ Persons of Indian
Origin founded in 1989. Over the years, the Institute has established Chapters in
the UK, USA, Canada, Angola, UAE, Oman, Bangkok, Seychelles, Singapore, Switzerland,
Australia, Saudi Arabia, Austria and Madagascar and has so far organized 36
International Events, 18 in India, 10 in London, 3 in Dubai and one each in Detroit,
New York, Washington DC, Bangkok and Singapore
