Press Release Body: Victorians with a bright business idea can now engage in a major event designed to connect innovative business ventures with development capital as part of Energise Enterprise 08 - Victoria's Small Business Festival and have the chance to win prizes to the value of over $60,000.
Vic Pitch '08, co-hosted by the Australian Small Scale Offerings Board Limited (ASSOB) and the Victorian Government, offers businesses and projects the chance to gain valuable experience and exposure from pitching a business concept to industry experts and investors.
Victoria's Small Business Minister, Joe Helper, encouraged innovative Victorian's to chase their business dream and bring their ideas to Vic Pitch '08.
"Vic Pitch '08 gives aspiring Victorians the chance to sell their idea to the professionals and see their business dream come to life," Mr Helper said.
"The Victorian Government is pleased to be a key supporter of Vic Pitch '08 which underpins our efforts to assist Victorian firms attract the support they need to reach their potential.
"I am also thrilled that Vic Pitch '08 will be a part of the Government's Energise Enterprise 08 - Victoria's Small Business Festival, to be held for the entire month of August," he said.
ASSOB's Managing Director Brookes McTavish said Vic Pitch '08 will showcase quality projects and business propositions that need investment capital to achieve their full potential.
"ASSOB has had great success bridging the gap between investors and unlisted companies by providing a single platform where they can assess and invest in businesses with high-growth potential," Ms McTavish said.
"In 2007, 77% of companies with investment offers listed on ASSOB raised capital within 3 months and the average premium achieved by investors selling their share holdings on the ASSOB secondary sales board was in excess of 100%. Vic Pitch '08 offers entrepreneurs valuable resources, networks and relationships through ASSOB and the Victorian Government as well as rare exposure to the investing community," she said.
The winning business will receive a listing on the Australian Small Scale Offerings Board, valued at $40,000 (based on an average $500,000 capital raising), with the runner-up prize valued at $11,000 and the third prize valued at $10,000.
All 10 short-listed businesses will receive business mentoring through ASSOB as well as access to presentation, pitch training and audio-visual resources.
Vic Pitch '08 will take place at the Treasury Theatre, Melbourne on Thursday, 7 August, 2008. The application deadline is Monday, 9 June, 2008 and applicants and event attendees can register online at http://www.pitch08.com.au.
