Press Release Summary: Gospel Recording Artist Uses CD As Tool For Ministry
Press Release Body: Debbie Scott has been singing gospel music most of her life. Her ministry was recognized nationally when she was tapped as a member of Savoy recording artist The Five Stars of Baltimore. Touring the country and singing behind some of gospel's greats such as the Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Caravans and the Five Blind Boys of Alabama. Since then, the Deaconess of Set The Captives Free Outreach Center in Baltimore, Maryland, has been honing her chops for her debut solo release on Flow of the Spirit Records, Getting Your Life Back.
The meaning behind the title is simply a testimony for Scott. The CD, a mixture of contemporary and traditional gospel and praise and worship music, is a testament of God's ability to deliver. Songs like the worshipful lead single, "Rain" and the reverent "I Love You, I Praise You" clearly demonstrate Scott's love for the Lord. Other memorable tracks include the Caribbean-flavored "I'm Grateful", the riveting "Meet Me In Prayer" and the captivating "Center of God's Will". And of course, one of the CD's most powerful cuts is the title tune, "Getting Your Life Back", a song about reclaiming a future that may, at times, seem lost. Penned by Gary L. Wyatt, Getting Your Life Back is Scott's ten-track entry into the gospel music industry as a soloist.
Scott's purpose is to minister to the hurting and the lost. Having endured some tragic events in her life, including losing 5 close family members in 2006 alone, she understands the lows of life. "Those losses were a pretty big hit for me," says the psalmist. "The last one to die during that year, in the month of December, was my younger brother and he and I were very, very close," reflects Debbie. During bouts of depression, instead of laying down and dying, she decided to fight. One day while praying, she heard the words, "you're getting your life back," the impetus for the title of the album.
Scott's music is heard nationally on hundreds of gospel radio stations and is being distributed by Edmondson Communications, Inc. Those interested in seeing Scott minister in person can catch her on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Denbigh, located at 3628 Campbell Rd. in Newport News, Virginia, during the 7:45AM & 11:00AM services. She will be ministering with her Senior Pastor, Karen S. Bethea, of Set The Captives Free Outreach Center in Baltimore.
