Ingram Digital SM Announces Record Month for e-Book Fulfillment
London Book Fair - Ingram Digital, a leading provider of solutions for content aggregation, storage, management and distribution, today announced a record month for e-book fulfillment. The number of e-books downloaded through Ingram Digital's Retail Solutions in March 2008 surpassed the previous record by 50 percent.
There is an increasing opportunity for publishers to leverage digital content as an integrated element of their physical and digital content sales and promotional strategies. Recognizing this potential, Ingram Digital has combined its proven e-book delivery platform with its new digital audio service, Search and Discover and Widget technologies to create its Retail Solutions offering. These services enable publishers to market, promote, sell, and distribute their content to the broadest range of customers in a variety of formats, including physical books.
Ingram Digital's e-book delivery platform enables companies to leverage opportunities in a growing e-book market. Ingram Digital currently provides turnkey e-book fulfillment services to several top online retailers including Diesel eBooks, eReader.com, Fictionwise, and Powell's. The company also serves leading publisher websites such as John Wiley & Sons, Inc, McGraw-Hill Professional, Pearson Technology Group, and Simon & Schuster.
"Ingram Digital has accumulated a vast knowledge of the e-book business, first through sister company Lightning Source TM and later through our own suite of e-book-focused services," commented Andrew Weinstein, Vice President and General Manager of Ingram Digital Retail Solutions. "As the needs of retailers and publishers evolved to include e-book commercialization, we continued to improve upon our technology infrastructure to meet those needs. Today, we are ideally positioned to serve publishers seeking to increase their presence in the digital marketplace without making the heavy investment necessary to build that capability in house."
Ingram Digital's recent record performance confirms the current upward trend in e-book consumption. By providing online retailers with access to one of the largest digital libraries of sellable content, Ingram Digital enables customers to fully capitalize on these opportunities by offering a large and varied inventory, as well as a seamless buying experience.
"Our March numbers are a testament to our position as premier suppliers of solutions for digital content monetization," said Weinstein. "As the year progresses, we will be making significant enhancements to our Retail Solutions which we believe will add even greater value to the services we currently provide our customers."
