Press Release Summary: Standard Register ranked eighth among Ohio employers for best adoption-friendly workplace by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption
Press Release Body: DAYTON, Ohio (May 1, 2008) - Continuing its leadership in providing outstanding employee adoption benefits, Standard Register (NYSE:SR) today announced it has been recognized as a Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®. Standard Register is a leading provider of document services and print management solutions.
Earning this recognition for the second straight year, Standard Register ranked eighth on the list of Ohio's Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces. Rankings are based on employers' overall adoption benefits, including the amount of financial assistance and paid leave provided to employees who adopt.
"When Standard Register first made this benefit available, it sent a clear message to our employees that the company fully supports the adoption process through both financial assistance and time-off benefits," said Amy Reilly, vice president, Human Resources, Standard Register. "We are constantly looking for ways to enhance the work experience at Standard Register, and this recognition by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is affirmation that we have an important element of a great place to work."
Established in January 2006, Standard Register's policy on adoption provides employees with up to $4,000 of financial assistance as well as up to four weeks of paid leave. These benefits apply to both female and male employees.
According to Todd Suchland, a disaster recovery specialist with Standard Register who recently benefited from the company's adoption policy, "The adoption process and the paperwork that comes with it can be overwhelming. However, with the Standard Register adoption policy in place, the element of financial assistance was removed from the equation.
"It was very comforting to have my company's support throughout the adoption process and to be provided the critical time needed not only to bond with my new three-year-old daughter but also to help her adjust to her new environment and family," he added.
The Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America list was compiled using data collected from 919 U.S. employers. Survey rankings are based first on the maximum amount of financial reimbursement per adoption, which includes any additional support for special-needs adoption, and second on the maximum number of weeks of paid leave per adoption. Employers who offer both are ranked higher than those providing only monetary support.
