Top runners to compete in Crystal Run Healthcare`s Classic 10K June 8th

Press Release Body: (May 28, 2008): Middletown, NY - Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Frank Shorter, the Middletown native who arguably has had the most impact on running in the history of the sport, will be at the starting line along with over 300 registered runners and an expected 1100 participants and spectators on June 8th for the Crystal Run Healthcare Classic 10K. It is the 28th running of the popular 10K race. Other notable competitors will include Steven Samoei of Kenya, Meseret Kotu of Ethiopia, Wellay Amare of Holland, and America's Kathleen Jobes who advanced quickly to the Olympic trials after a late entry to competition at age 30.
"The beauty of this event is that the local runner can compete with the field's elite from points around the globe," remarks Frank Giannino, former cross-country America runner and owner of Frank's Running & Shoe-Fitting Center in the Town of Wallkill.
The race begins at 8:00 AM at the Twin Towers Middle School on Wisner Avenue in Middletown. Pre and post race activities are scheduled at the Twin Towers Middle School as well. And there's more than just a 10K making this a day to remember. There's a 5K race and walk with many high school teams competing for the Rowley Cup. This year the Junior Classic will have three age-group one mile races for kids 12 and under with shorter races for the younger runners.
Another classic is the Classic Community Health Expo, a central showcase for local health providers that will include medical, dental, chiropractic, massage, police, and service organizations - all dedicated to improving the health, fitness, and well-being of our citizens. The Health Expo is conveniently set up along the midway at the stadium entrance and runs from 8:00 AM - Noon.
The Classic 10K proceeds, presented by Crystal Run Healthcare, will benefit Orange Regional Medical Center\'s new hospital. Food is once again being provided by Otisville\'s Bada Bing II and others. Entertainment will be provided by local bands and a live DJ. Photo opps will abound for all, including photos with world-class runners and finish line photos provided by Ken Shelton Photography.
