Press Release Summary: When TranslateMedia, an award-winning global translation agency, were asked by a client to translate a training course developed in Trivantis' Lectora, they had to get up and running quickly.
Press Release Body: With a network of over 1000 translators covering more than 55 languages, it is clear that their specialism is language and not IT - so they were delighted to discover that Lectora was easy to learn. Matt Train is one of a team of three linguists chosen to learn the programme, in order to respond to that first client's need. He says "Lectora was pretty easy to learn, and quick because it is quite intuitive. A few clicks, a few tries and we soon picked it up and could get moving on our first project, which were courses to train staff on anti money-laundering and other financial regulations, which vary in different territories." The first brief was to translate courses from English into French and German. The team found that Lectora was flexible enough to cope with their unique needs. "Translating into certain languages creates design challenges to overcome. For example, translating from English into German can grow the amount of text by around 50% so you can have problems fitting it onto the original page, or find it gets too cluttered, and we have to work with it to fit everything in while maintaining the style that the client was aiming for. Eighteen months on, translation of eLearning courses has become a valuable revenue stream which TranslateMedia believes has good growth potential as companies increasingly seek to use these tools to educate employees and clients around the world. Lectora is the standard for eLearning authoring for many global brands. One global leader in international express delivery and air freight approached TranslateMedia with eight substantial internal training courses developed in Lectora in English, for translation into German. TranslateMedia sees that eLearning translation and adaptation for different markets will continue to be a part of its business with Lectora as a key component. "Client choose us because of our experience with Lectora, and we believe we are one of very few agencies with this capability. We are also interested to see what opportunities might be opened up by using the new multiple language versions." As its eLearning translation business grows, TranslateMedia believes it is important to keep pace with Lectora's development, and has recently upgraded to the 2008 version. "The latest version of Lectora is even easier to use. The translation tool within it has been improved and now works really well and makes it much easier for us to do our job."
