Press Release Summary: Lee Sharpe hosted his Annual Golf Day at the Mere Golf and Country Club, Cheshire, to launch his Foundation for the care and protection of underprivileged children.
Press Release Body: Hampshire, July 07, 2008 -- Lee Sharpe hosted his Annual Golf Day at the Mere Golf and Country Club, Cheshire, to launch his Foundation for the care and protection of underprivileged children. Working with 'Ambassadors in Sport', he aims to be a premier Christian agent of transformation in the football community, by working in all levels of football involvement. AIS uses its Christian foundation and beliefs to demonstrate the character of their workers and the way they connect with faith, non-faith and multi-faith bodies to bring positive change through football.
Along with other Ambassadors and notable soccer players and supporters, including Bruce Grobbelaar, Alan Halsall (Coronation Street), Clayton Blackmore, Willie Thorne, John Beresford, Frank McAvennie, Kenny Dalglish, Graham Stuart, Gary Pallister, Peter Swan, Alan McAnnally, Gary Owen (Take That), Christopher Bisson, Ian Flanagan, Craig Phillips (Big Brother) Craig Hignett, Ashley Ward, Cole Page and of course Lee Sharpe, they want to change the lives of youngsters through football, in the same way football has changed their lives.
Lee Sharpe said "I am thrilled to be able to launch the Lee Sharpe Foundation, working in conjunction with 'Ambassadors in Sport'. This charity has become very important to me. Supporting children that deserve better lives is my driving force and we can make a difference to them. Thank you to Nephria and all the people and organisations that have supported this event with me. Having friends like Andrew and Charlotte at Nephria will, of course, add to the fund raising effort."
Lee dreams to see the lives of individuals positively changed through the football experience and seeing communities changed for good. Football is so pervasive in society that transformation through football will bring transformation in the community. AIS and the Lee Sharpe Foundation will work to improve the lives of young people, by empowering the homeless, giving life skills to those in prison and young offenders, running international playing and coaching tours to underprivileged countries, running local teams and tournaments with youth and adults, running soccer schools, working with schools and providing sports ministry training programmes.
Charlotte Newbert of Nephria added, "I am thrilled to be a part of the wonderful work done by Lee and his team. The Foundation will make a difference in the opportunities for children to improve their living conditions and anything we can do to help is a sincere privilege."
