Press Release Summary: The Source's Unsigned Hype Steps Up. This record just so happens to be a manifestation of one of those times" says the rarely apologetic MC.
Press Release Body: New York, NY, August 29, 2008 -- If controversial lyrics were a sport at this years Olympics, then Jewish rapper E-Shy would have definitely taken home the gold medal. As the author of hot topic and equally debatable raps such as "Blacks and Jews" and "Obama Diss", the Harlem born and raised MC takes his message to the streets with the DJ Kayslay mixtape, "Why So Serious", that debuted Tuesday, August 26th to much anticipation.
The mixtape is sure to be regarded as a cinematic and musical saga that fearlessly melds together an entertaining compilation of classic hip-hop beats as well as new records to include the recently leaked single \"Paper Bag.\" The controversial track is one that E-Shy knows will be a catalyst for conversation and dispute among many groups. \"Paper Bag is sure to spark some controversy with women\'s organizations for its reference to placing a paper bag over the heads of females with attractive bodies and less then attractive facial features," says E-Shy. \"There are times when I like to write about things that people think about on a daily basis but are too afraid to say. This record just so happens to be a manifestation of one of those times" says the rarely apologetic MC.
With the industry co-sign of hip hop veteran, DJ Kayslay, the "Why So Serious" mixtape is sure to extend the buzz created by The Source Magazine earlier in the year when they recently anointed E-Shy as Unsigned Hype stating that they believed "E-Shy was the heir to Eminem's throne".
As E-Shy explains, \"Why So Serious is in a sense a tribute to the Joker in the Batman film, The Dark Knight and the character\'s interpretation of the Chaos Theory, his art of disruption. Hip-hop has become watered down and way too serious from my perspective. Things need to lighten up a bit and the entertaining side of the art-form needs to make a comeback. I have nothing but respect for Kayslay and his history in the game and hope that this mixtape is enjoyed by all who get a chance to hear it in its entirety, and understand that it is meant to entertain and for people to ask themselves, why so serious?"
E-Shy will release his debut album, "Misfit", this fall.
