Carl Miller, a Londoner, came from a poor background to reach the top of his
profession, the less glamorous business of the city's nightclubs. During his early
years, he learned to survive by becoming streetwise and developing an uncanny

company from those in the London underworld who would like to topple him.

When Barry Johns flees the country owing a huge debt, Miller immediately swings into
action. Johns has been planning his escape carefully, so it takes all Miller's
resolve and cunning to locate his whereabouts but he is determined to make an
example of Johns and not allow him to be the first to escape his debts.

The trail takes them across Europe then begins to go cold but Miller is not going to
relent and eventually they discover Johns working with Steve Robson's company under
a new identity. Up to his old games, Johns had been embezzling Robson's company and
is dismissed but Robson discovers his bank's executives are also dishonest. With
Johns vowing revenge and Robson's fight against the bank, his company is fighting
for survival when Miller arrives. Will his arrival be the last straw for Robson's
business?

The two men find something in common and set about helping each other and Miller'
sets up an elaborate sting to retrieve his own debt from Johns before his other
pursuers catch up with him. Can a second sting rescue Robson's company from the
bank's clutches?

The reader is introduced to white-collar crime at the highest level and left asking
the question. Who are the biggest rogues, those who don't pretend to be anything
other than what they are, or those who operate dishonestly behind a bank's
respectable façade?

This is a fast paced thriller with plenty of suspense and an ingenious twist at the
end.


About the Author:

John R. Stephenson lives in Buckinghamshire in England. John is a successful
entrepreneur in the computer industry, with companies spanning the fields of
hardware and software development, systems manufacturing and consultancy. John has
written various articles for the technical press and broadcast on computer matters
for the BBC. John co-founded the Coronary Artery Disease Research Association
(CORDA), which sponsors research into the early detection of heart disease. He was
made a Freeman of the City of York in 1996, and more recently he established a
property company in the UK and Portugal, which is constructing a large resort
comprising apartments, villas, hotel and sports complex on the Algarve.
