Press Release Summary: Dorset's largest independent cleaning contractor scrubs up well after 40 years of trading.
Press Release Body: A 'fortieth' is usually an unwelcome birthday but not so for staff at Dorset's largest independent cleaning contractor, who are celebrating 40 years in business.
Nova Contract Cleaners in Bournemouth is still owned by the partners that started the firm in 1968 and many staff have worked there for more than a decade.
The cleaning industry is no longer the preserve of iconic Mrs Mop and is now highly specialised governed by strict legislation, health and safety, and the threat of bugs such as MRSA.
"It is completely unrecognisable to when we started, and is much more complex these days," said Nova partner, Desmond Hulland.
"New building trends, such as stainless steel and marble floors, means the technology of cleaning has also completely changed. It's far more than just emptying bins, vacuuming and flicking a duster about."
The company employs more than 250 staff tackling a wide range of buildings across Dorset and Hampshire including office headquarters, health clubs, high street stores and factories.
It comprises of three divisions - contract cleaning, special projects including bio hazardous waste removal, and window cleaning.
Partner, Michael Janson-Smith, said: "We approach each of our 120 clients completely open-mindedly and tailor our service to their unique needs."
Staff have experienced some bizarre incidents during the decades including an open bank vault full of money, a pot bellied pig on the loose, and office workers caught out in uncompromising positions.
Nova, which has its HQ in Winton, was the first cleaning contractor to be awarded an ISO for Quality Assurance, in 1992. It is also a member of the British Institute of Cleaning Science.
