Press Release Body: San Jose, Costa Rica, Aug 06, 2008 -- PocketFivesLive.com has been on location in the Amazon Room at the Rio, the site of the 2008 World Series of Poker. For the past six weeks, this Las Vegas destination has been the center of the poker world, with the top live and online poker players competing against each other and a slew of amateurs for millions of dollars. After 11 days of play in the $10,000 buy-in Main Event, PocketFiver Scott "r_a_y" Montgomery became one of the final nine players, dubbed the "November Nine" by Harrah's officials because they'll return to the Rio and play out the tournament 100 days from now.
Montgomery has experienced success in live play, recently finishing fifth in the World Poker Tour's L.A. Poker Classic during Season VI. The episode aired on Monday, the same day that the WSOP Main Event played down to the final nine players. Online, he had two UltimateBet Online Poker Championship cashes last fall. They combined for $20,000. The final table will be covered on PocketFivesLive.com, the best source for WSOP coverage.
Sunday's major tournament action was dominated by one player, Mark \"dipthrong\" Herm, who won both the Full Tilt Poker $750K Guaranteed and the Bodog $100K Guaranteed tournaments for over $170,000. The newly-released PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings sparked a lot of interest this week when high-volume tournament player Shaun Deeb took over the top spot worldwide. Hailing from the state of New York, Deeb's recent victory in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for over $100K helped him replace Dan \"DJK123\" Kelly as the world\'s number one online poker player. Chris \"Moorman1\" Moorman of the United Kingdom and Russell \"rdcrsn\" Carson of Canada are now ranked #3 and #5, respectively, while Evan \"PURPLEPILS99\" Parkes enters the top ten for the first time at #9. Brian \"SN8WMAN\" Hawkins, who took down the PokerStars Sunday Million earlier this year for $278,000, is ranked #10 worldwide. New faces in the rankings this week include Herm and Dan \"wretchy\" Martin of Oregon, who enters this week at #84 following his outright victory in the Full Tilt Sunday Brawl for #64,000.
