Press Release Body: Le Studio is proud to introduce, for his first Parisian exhibit, an artist whose sense of humor only equals his maniacal obsessional talent. Additionally doted with a unique sense of humor which guides the viewer along the crumpled lines of the kraft paper he uses, Andrew James Jones explores human nature at its worse, in the greatest way and offers a vitriol quality produced by a brilliant imagination.
Profane, shocking, ironic, yet legitimate, unique, sensory-driven, British artist Andrew James Jones’ body of work elevates us til it’s too hard to breathe. The characters are hardly, yet terribly human. Our codes, the very same ones that govern human relationships, are what you’ll find in Jones’ paintings, to some degree, to various levels of insanity.
Jones has kept a strong attachment to his rural childhood in Wales. Anchored in his oral and anal periods, his work would make any shrink shriek with joy, scrambling along the tracks of pretence childishness. His provocations bear social and philosophical ranges that dive into our core. Through the prism of British humor, the innocence of Jones’ creatures appears, via dialogues or dramatic postures.
Admittedly, sex and violence are present in these paintings and collages but in the end, not more than in our lives; however, they lack the smoothness that tends to serve as an alibi to our everyday cruelty. In all their crudeness, they manage to, never, become vulgar.
Andrew James Jones’ wild humor doesn’t growl. It bites, leaving indelible marks, taking support on our primary education instincts, in our childhoods’ basement foundations, between candor and perversion.
