Austin, Texas, March 31, 2011 — Author, Simel Bey releases his first children’s book, Children’s Initiatic Tales: Stories from the Immortal Light. This fifty-seven page soft-cover features six original tales that stem from traditions of myth, spiritual folklore, and ancient fairy tales. These true, experiential tales of multidimensional nature take readers through emotional themes such as abuse, pain, and child slavery towards divine experiences of redemption and grace.

“The book is written for readers who are passionate about finding themselves, feeling secure and confident, working through trauma and pain, and those who have serious questions about spirituality,” says Bey. “The stories found in the book are based upon real people and experiences I have encountered. I hope it will encourage readers who have experienced pain and trauma with possibilities of how to integrate hope into their lives.”

“As one absorbs the mystery of each story, one is profoundly moved by the depth of Bey’s passion and love for the medium,” says Dr. Mitchell Gibson, MD, and best-selling author of Your Immortal Body of Light, The Miracle Prayer, and Signs of Mental Illness. “Bey’s use of multicultural themes and prose is uplifting and joyous. The genre of magical story has found a brilliant new champion in Simel Bey.”

Bey’s reflective and encouraging language engages readers aged nine through forty with his loving, humorous, magical, yet realistic storytelling. The book holds six illustrations, provided by Holly Ganzalez, Ahmir Mark Lyles and Carnegie Mims.

Ahmir M. Lyles, illustrator of Prince Ahmir and The Amethyst Dragon states “I hope the illustration inspires the reader to be creative. Fantasy, mythology, and even whimsical thinking are very good exercises of creative thought, so I hope that the reader gets the message to always stretch his or her mind when creating art–to include self and to think beyond what’s already been done–what’s already there to be seen or experienced.”

Children’s Initiatic Tales: Stories from The Immortal Light, is a collection of timeless tales that will educate reading youth with universal themes and explore magical concepts that are both uplifting and miraculous. The stories encourage readers to open their minds, persevere through times of hardship and search for hope in various ways.
