Leading UK online parcel delivery service Parcel2Go has called
on businesses in Britain to think ahead and make sure they are covered
in the event of widespread postal strikes.
While no decisions have been taken as yet, rhetoric coming from union leaders is
quite clear, said Richard Mercer, Head of Marketing at Parcel2Go.
Towards the end of last month, the Communication Workers Union announced that up to
3,500 Royal Mail workers in London could start industrial action due to fears over
job security. Members backed the opportunity to go on strike four-to-one.
For businesses and individuals in the UK that rely on getting packages to addresses
in Britain and abroad, it is vital they have a service they can trust. Customers and
clients may understand if industrial action prevents deliveries from being made, but
they will be inconvenienced all the same.
Richard Mercer said: "There remains a lot of uncertainty with regard to whether
postal services will be disrupted as a result of strike action, so we’re advising
individuals and companies with important consignments, that normally rely on these international parcel services, to make
contingency plans and ensure they are covered either way."
Parcel2Go helps its customers send in excess of 750,000 parcels every year to
destinations across the world, from Argentina to Azerbaijan. Leading courier firms
such as FedEx,
City Link and UPS assist in getting packages of all shapes and sizes to their
destination safely and on time.
"By organising for a professional and reliable courier company to handle a
delivery, people will have the peace of mind of knowing their goods will be
delivered whatever happens," added Richard.
