Summary = What if the Chief of Staff to the Vice-President of the
United States committed a series of murders to cover his tracks?
What if you were a member of a newly formed agency called the Department
of Counter-Intelligence, who's
soon be hot on his tail? Would you arrest him? The Chief of Staff's
political power is very well known. Would you report the crime to
your Director at DCI, and would the Director do anything about it,
knowing the situation? Or would you turn a blind
eye to protect the nation from another embarrassing moment?
These are the
questions Max Stone must resolve in my novel, 'Executive Betrayal'.
At the moment of the murders he professes allegiance to Director
Peters, but he questions whether he has made the right choice. A
quick promotion from FBI agent, to
DCI, TTF- Terrorist Task Force, puts him into a job that can overwhelm
him. He supports the Director's action on backing off on some of
the issues with the case. But within weeks a series of events makes
Stone wonder if the Chief of Staff to the VP is as honorable as
he seems. Max Stone digs for the truth and unearths secrets woven
deeply within the infrastructure of the government. Secrets that
touch even his family, but he may be digging his own grave.
"Executive
Betrayal: A Max Stone Series" gathers a collection of characters,
each linked in one way or another to a federal investigation involving
a drug cartel in Costa Rica. The combining elements of suspense
and intrigue, can imagine the way one
agency might interact with another at diverse levels of authority,
including the "Executive" branch of the American government.

Body = Edwin Santiago author of “Executive Betrayal / A Max
Stone Series” tells a thrilling tale of terrorism, espionage,
and the New World Order.
Cartersville,
GA -- January 13, 2005 -- One of America’s newest authors
hits home with a startlingly realistic novel that appears to be
ripped from the pages of today’s current events. “Executive
Betrayal” by Edwin Santiago and Dorothy Harper is a fantastic
and “seemingly non-fiction” story of how America chooses
to deal with
the modern day threats to our freedom, peace, and well being.
The first novel,
“Executive Betrayal” was written in early 2000 and Santiago
felt compelled to re-write much of the first book after the events
of 9/11. “As a New Yorker, I didn’t want to appear to
be capitalizing on the Twin Towers” Santiago says. The original
draft of the book was disturbingly prophetic.
The Department
of Counter Intelligence (DCI) is a major factor in the first novel.
The DCI is being introduced and established by the new American
President and the Department is a major step forward in the methods,
capabilities, and powers of dealing with terrorism and security.
The DCI is responsible for correlating all of
America and other member nation’s intelligence gathering and
distribution.
The hero of
the series is agent Max Stone, an FBI agent with a past who leads
a task force at the DCI. “Executive Betrayal” will quickly
take the reader on an involving ride from the floor of the United
Nations into the steamy underbrush of jungles and
streets of our major cities. Corruption is traced back to some of
the very highest officials in the world who will stop at nothing
and have little regard for the laws for common man or their liberties.
Santiago is
an ex-Marine who now works for a major software company in Atlanta.
He has recently completed the second in the series of six ‘Max
Stone’ novels and is busily working on the third. He draws
extensively from his experiences with the Marine Corps in the 1970s.
“Executive
Betrayal / a Max Stone Series” by Edwin Santiago and Dorothy
Harper is a breathtaking ride that brings to vivid life some of
the most amazing and captivating characters you have ever seen.
The novel is at once a thriller, spy story, and part
intrigue and full of intensive action, political subterfuge and
amazing high-tech gadgets. It is definitely the best first novel
you will read this year!
“Executive
Betrayal / a Max Stone Series” (ISBN: 1-4107-3331-9) is 312
pages long and is available in quality trade paperback for a list
price of $18.95. "Executive Betrayal" will be appearing
in hardcover beginning August 2003. It is published by AuthorHouse,
distributed by Ingram Books Distributors and is also available through
www.authorhouse.com, www.Amazon.com, www.BarnesandNoble.com, www.Bookamillion.com,
and many other major bookstores.
Edwin Santiago,
author of "Executive Betrayal," was recently picked up
by the La Ley Productions, Inc. A Personel Management and Production
Company to represent "Executive Betrayal," and the Max
Stone series of novels.

Reviewer: Pat (L. A.) - A wonderful read.
I just loved
the way the story line went, with it's in's and out's in every chapter.
I did not know who is behind it all, or what to think. I have to
say that the author has a way with words, when it came down to the
love scene, not going into so much, I'll let you read it for yourself.
I am not a book reviewer, but I do love the book, and the way it
carry itself from chapter to chapter, I'll be looking foward to
the next issue of the Max Stone series.

Reviewer: Mary - Just loved to read
The author made
it easy to read & understand. I am not a fiction reader, but
my Friend had brought a copy of "executive betrayal",
and told me about the book. I read the back cover, and found it
very interesting, so I pick up one from my loacl book store. I can
only say this new wave of thinking is refreshing from what I had
read before. I rate it a 4 stars, and looking to see what they will
come up next.

Reviewer: John (Chicago) It pass my ten page test.
I could not
believe the ending, which will keep me thinking for a few more months,
about who is really behind it all. "Executive Betrayal"

I brought this
book from a local book store, a friend told me about the book, and
so I got it. I love the way the author told his story, and the plot,
which is what's happening today. I also learn that the author 'Edwin
Santiago' had written the book three years ago, and wrote the book
with headlines news of today. There is another thing I heard? The
second book from the "Max Stone Series" title "Lines
Between the Sands" is do out early of 2004, and I will be online
to get it. I rate this a 5, and hope others would love the book
the way I did.

Reviewer: Robert
I have read
3/4 of the book, I do say that first time authors have done a great
job so far. I do admire their style, the way each characters come
into play with each other, and hope the rest of the series is as
good as the first book. I do like the way things are going within
the book, as you go along, and learn what really goes behind closed
doors within our own government. As the sub-title says? "Absolute
Power Corrupts Absolutely." I rate it 5 stars. Cannot wait
to see what happens to Agent Max Stone, and the rest of the DCI
agents. Plus what is the real story with his tough partner Agent
Maritza Falcón.

Interesting story line. Reviewer: Robert (New York City)I
had read lots of novel from new authors, to old ones. However, I
do love the way this new writer wrote his book, and the way it moves
along with the story, and characters, like 'Max Stone' I do recommend
this book, and hope you will enjoy it as
I have. Can not wait for the next book to come out.

A original concept, from a new author with a vision. Reviewer: Chris
(Atlanta)
Wow! A sharp
and perceptive vision of our world today. Original ideas and approaches
to today's world problems as they might really be dealt with. A
must-read thriller that will take the reader on a captivating ride
of political, military, and world intrique. This story takes place
in our near (or almost present) future and tells
about new agency built by the US to conteract the threats of terrorism,
as well as dealing with general crime on a world-wide basis. Deals
with our New World Order and the threats we all face. I'm really
looking forward to the next in this 'Max Stone'
series!

I like the way
the story line is written, plus the way the author made it easy
to follow, and for someone like me to understand the high tech within
the story it was a great read. Looking forward to reading the next
installment of the series. I give it four (4) cocoanuts out of five
(5).
