Patricia Arquette stars as a woman who has a special gift in the premier Monday night of "MEDIUM." NBC's new kid on the block takes the time slot of LAX, which didn't perform well against CSI Miami. MEDIUM's producer and director, Kelsey Grammar and Glenn Gordon Caron, proved they are up to the task last night.

Allison Dubois sees and hears dead people. The opening scene is an attention getter. It shows her surrounded by dead people when she wakes up from a dream about interrogating a prisoner who is connected to a vicious murder. Although she is working in the District Attorney's Office as a paralegal and plans to be an
attorney, her career tasks a strange twist when her husband suggests she report her visions to some law enforcement agencies. He thinks her visions are simply dreams and couldn't possibly be real murders or deaths. His attempt to give his wife a peace of mind lands a call from the Texas Rangers. Allison is soon on a jet to Texas to test her skills.

Even though the Rangers try to throw her off the trail and prove her to be a hoax, Allison leads them down a road to the house of the murder scene in question. She locates the area the body of the victim, a 12-year old boy, was buried by his killer. But doesn't stop until she pulls off a great finesse. She gets the killer's cell buddy to tell her what the killer told him in confidence. When all is said and done, the killer admits he killed the boy and the Rangers gain a new respect for Allison's unusual talent.

Discovering her true calling, Allison resigns her position at the District Attorney's Office. But now the District Attorney has become a believer. He hires Allison to work in his office as a medium with one hitch. She isn't to tell anyone she works there or what she's doing. He tells first job is to help him select jurors for an upcoming trial. Perfect. I can't wait.
