Just in time to stock up for Easter, The Chocolate Festival returns to Southbank Centre from Friday 30th March to Sunday 1st April 2012 bringing together award-winning chocolatiers, insightful tutorials and free tastings in one complete celebration of all things chocolate.
Chocoholics who delight in the fine art of chocolate making can enjoy the weekend-long festival by booking a hotel in London through LondonTown.com and with Easter coming up the first weekend in April is a good time to see family and friends in London. Anyone attending the free festival at the Southbank Centre Square, located behind Royal Festival Hall, will find around 40 stands with cocoa products from award winning chocolatiers like Paul A Young, William Curley and Demarquette as well as more unusual offerings – ever wanted to taste a chocolate flavoured beer, or sugar-free chocolate?
Chef Valentina Harris hosts a series of demonstrations, tastings and talks in the Chocolate Cookery Theatre marquee beginning with a cookery demonstration and continuing with talks, baking demonstrations and tutored tastings. Martin Christy, chocolate expert and founder of Seventy%, will take you on a voyage of discovery to find the true flavours of chocolate, and Urvashi Roe, a contestant on this year's Great British Bake Off, will be doing a cookery demonstration drawing on her passion for baking and home entertaining.
Hugely popular, the six Masters of Chocolate demonstrations which take place on Saturday afternoon are a highlight of the festival but you'll have to book early if you want to get tickets to meet some of the world's most respected chocolatiers and pastry chefs. Damian Allsop, Paul Wayne Gregory, Bill McCarrick, the new head chef of Rococo, Barry Johnson, are among the experts who will be divulging their cooking tips and favourite recipes to those lucky enough to secure a ticket.
More information about the Chocolate Festival is provided by LondonTown.com who specialise in giving travellers information on the capital including event listings, theatre tickets, restaurant reviews and information on hotels which are often offered at discounted prices.
