Market leaders in flexible vehicle hire and fleet solutions,
Northgate Vehicle Hire, has this week unveiled its new look Glasgow
depot after investing £300,000 in the existing infrastructure. To drive
process efficiencies for customers and offer an unrivalled experience,
the re-development has taken place over three months.
As part of Northgate’s £1.5m investment across the UK this year, the Glasgow site
was the natural starting point due to the size of its market area. Striving to set
new benchmarks for depots and facilities across the group, the Glasgow site will be
used as the blueprint for all 62 depots.
Transforming the dated and operationally unsuitable site into a hub that boasts a
dedicated reception area for van hire and workshop customers, two plasma TVs with information points; one of
which will display a live workshop planner so customers can track the maintenance
progress of their vehicles; a refreshment and working area with Wi-Fi access for
customers, a new open plan back office to improve operational performance and
communication between departments, and a canteen for colleagues, the new site is
more in keeping with a retail environment and has a new dedicated customer parking
area and entrance and a fully landscaped exterior. Corporate signage has also been
  introduced.
Simon Ridley, Northgate’s Operations Director North, commented:
“The suitability of our existing sites has been an area we’ve wanted to review for a
long time. The fleet has grown substantially over the last 15 years and it was time
our facilities reflected the standard of service offered.”
He continued:
“We have spent around £300,000 reconfiguring the Glasgow site to make it more
efficient. Alongside providing our colleagues with a working environment that allows
them to carry out their jobs effectively, process efficiencies will improve
significantly to ensure that our customers have an unrivalled experience with every
  visit.”
The Glasgow workshop, in particular, has seen a significant development with the
re-design allowing optimum operational efficiency and workflow, as well as the
  mechanics benefitting from updated equipment.
