Luxury travel company, Journeys of Distinction, famous for its
stunning, prestige escorted tours to the most breathtaking destinations around the globe, is
launching a brand new UK tour, uncovering the incredible gems on our
doorstep.
The Very Best of the UK tour has been launched due to popular demand from customers
wanting to explore our own country in a relaxed and luxurious manner. The new style
of tour takes UK travel to a higher level of luxury.
The exclusive eleven-day tour showcases delights and treasures including: Stratford
upon Avon, The Lake District and Edinburgh.
Customers are accompanied by their very own Journeys of Distinction Tour Manager.
They are the linchpin of the entire tour, taking care of all the organisation and
helping customers make the most of every moment, be it finding that perfect souvenir
shop or advice on interesting things to do in their free time. Local blue badge
guides are also on hand in various locations to provide in-depth local knowledge,
allowing customers to really get to know the places they are visiting.
The inaugural departures start in May, June, August and October and cost from £1,199
per person. Guests stay at an array of upmarket hotels with delicious meals
included.
The tour begins in Shakespeare country staying at Ettington Park hotel with visits
to the Royal Shakespeare Company, plus Mary Arden’s farm and Anne Hathaway’s cottage
plus free time to explore individually. The tour then moves north, up to York and
staying over night at Yarm, visiting the historic Yorkshire city during the day
taking in its impressive Gothic architecture.
The next day it is a leisurely day with a ride on the North Yorkshire Steam Railway
from Pickering to Whitby. The eighteen miles of preserved steam railway run through
the spectacular scenery of the Moors. On arrival in Whitby, there is time to enjoy
the popular seaside location and enjoy some traditional fresh fish and chips. Then
it is back on the steam train before retiring back to an exclusive hotel in Yarm for
the evening.
Day five sees guests take in the visually stunning Alnwick Garden before heading
north of the border to Edinburgh. Whilst in the Scottish capital, there is a full
day of sightseeing including the Queen’s official residence Holyrood Palace and the
imposing Edinburgh Castle.
First on the agenda for the next day is a visit to the majestic Royal Britannia, one
of the world’s most famous ships, which first set sail in 1954. After lunch it is
time to head to the Lake District National Park and two nights in Armathwaite Hall
Country House Hotel and Spa in Bassenthwaite.
After a relaxing night it is time to explore the northern lakes including Borrowdale
Valley and Keswick and then onto Cockermouth to visit Wordsworth House and Gardens.
Day nine sees the tour head to the southern lakes and the outstanding beauty of
Grasmere, Windermere and Cartmel. After a cruise on Lake Windermere and a visit to
pretty Bowness, the tour heads south to Cheshire by rail. On the way there’s a stop
at Carnforth Station – the setting for romantic classic Brief Encounter, where the
tour rejoins the coach before heading down to Nantwich for the night.
The next stop is the historic city of Chester with plenty of free time for shopping
and taking in the sites of this old Roman city before a gala four course farewell
dinner.
The next morning it is time to return to Stratford upon Avon with a head full of
memories and unforgettable sights and experiences. Once back in Stratford, there is
the option for a tour extension staying at the stunning Ettington Park Hotel.
