Authors, editors and publishing professionals gather for The London Book Fair

LONDON, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The 41st edition of The London Book Fair will take place from Monday 16th to Wednesday 18th April 2012, returning to Earls Court Exhibition Centre for what is widely recognised as a key event for the whole publishing industry, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world.

Industry professionals who come to negotiate rights, set up sales and network among their peers can book their trip now and find a cheap London hotel within walking distance of the conference centre. With almost half of the 24,500 visitors to last year's event travelling from overseas demand for hotels in the area around Earls Court is expected to be high.

China will be the Market Focus for this year's London Book Fair, a decision taken in 2008 to highlight the handover of the Olympics from Beijing to London . Featuring as ‘guest of honour', seminars and events on China will shine a spotlight on publishing trade links with the country at this year's event.

Well known writers, publishers and editors can be seen at the fair including journalist Caitlin Moran who will be interviewed at the English PEN Literary Café; Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries Ed Vaizey; and the BBC's Greg Childs, director and executive producer of children's programmes for over 20 years, who will be talking about children as a young adult audience.

There are numerous talks and discussions taking place throughout fair which are free to attend including workshops, demonstrations and seminars given by industry professionals – from publishers, to producers, authors to editors – promoting discussion on the issues affecting the publishing industry today.

New media is under the spotlight at the Digital Minds Conference, an event within the fair which takes place at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre; and the popular Introduction to Rights Workshop returns, addressing topics such as ‘Why sell rights?', English vs translated rights and a breakdown of the selling process followed by an ‘ask the experts' slot at the end of the day.
