April 30, 2012, 2:46 pm -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- On Saturday 5th May 2012 at Wembley Stadium Chelsea and Liverpool will kick-off at 5.15pm to see who will win the FA Cup Final, the world's oldest football competition and for fans coming from outside London to see the high profile football match there's a wide choice of London hotels available on the website LondonTown.com where great discounts are offered on London hotel prices.
With Wembley Stadium able to seat up to 90,000 spectators, there will be a great atmosphere as the two sides – both of whom who have under-performed in the Premier League this season – battle it out for the £1,800,000 prize money which goes to the winning club.
Leading up to the Final, Liverpool beat their fiercest rivals Everton 2-1 in the semi-finals and, 24 hours later, Chelsea won against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur with a convincing if controversial 5-1 full-time score to secure their place.
Liverpool will be aiming for their second domestic trophy on Wembley soil this season having won the League Cup on penalties against Cardiff City earlier in the year. But Chelsea have a good track record at the West London stadium, they were the first club to win The FA Cup when the venue was newly completed in 2007 and the Stamford Bridge side also won FA Cup trophies in consecutive years in 2009 and 2010.
Before the main event, West London based band Hard-Fi will headline the entertainment, playing their 2005 single ‘Living For The Weekend', and Blackpool legend Jimmy Armfield will be Chief Guest, presenting the trophy to the winning captain from the Royal Box.
Armfield believes that the final will be a close game: “This is Liverpool's second Final of the season and they've already won a trophy this year. That's a real achievement in my eyes so they'll be confident about repeating that success in the same Stadium.” With such evenly matched sides, the close contest should give football fans plenty to shout about.
