May 02, 2012, 4:54 pm -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- There are only a limited number of tickets remaining to see Elvis Costello when he plays at London 's Royal Albert Hall for two nights only on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th May 2012 as part of his ‘Revolver Tour'. The English singer-songwriter who first found fame in the 1970s rarely plays in the UK – his last appearance was two years ago – and fans who are travelling to London can use the website LondonTown.com to book one of the London hotels located conveniently close to the iconic South Kensington concert hall.
The singer will bring his ‘Spectacular Spinning Songbook', first seen on his 1986 tour, back to the Royal Albert Hall over 25 years after it was previously staged there for three nights. Elvis Costello and his band The Imposters will start with five tracks before asking members of the audience to spin a huge wheel to select the next song. The wheel features dozens of the singer's hits taken throughout his 35 years of songwriting.
Chosen fans will get the chance to take to the stage and spin the wheel which is sometimes nudged into position by Costello so that most popular hits, such as ‘Watching the Detectives', ‘Alison' and ‘Bedlam', are played throughout the night. A rendition of Shipbuilding, a song written in the aftermath of the Falklands War and released as a single in 1982, would be especially poignant given the recent anniversary. Ballads from his 2010 album ‘National Ransom', his 11th in 10 years, are also expected to be played.
Touring the UK and Ireland in May 2012, the 13 date ‘Revolver Tour' will kick off in Dublin on Wednesday 9th May before moving the UK, arriving in Glasgow on Friday 11th May and touring nationwide before wrapping up in Basingstoke on Sunday 27th May 2012. A DVD of the 2011 tour, ‘The Return Of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook!!!', complete with behind-the-scenes footage was released on 3rd April 2012.
