June 14, 2012, 6:48 am -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Another year, another festival; London adds to its arsenal of festivals this summer with Bloc, a dance and electronic music festival in the newly opened London Pleasure Gardens. The line-up for the two-day event this July is extensive; Orbital, Snoop Dogg, Richie Hawtin, Amon Tobin, Gary Numan, Squarepusher and many, many more all take to the post-apocalyptic looking location in the London Docklands.
The London Pleasure Gardens has just been opened in the Royal Docks area of East London. The 60,000 square metre site has space for 40,000 people in post-industrial surroundings – the perfect setting for electronic music. Light displays, sound and non-musical entertainment are set to be mesmerising. Aside from a 30 metre geodesic dome stage on the water's edge, the focal point is likely to be Motor Ship Stubnitz, which has been converted into a high-tech moving platform for sonic and visual arts.
The event is the brainchild of Glastonbury 's Shangri-La crew. The event itself is not new, but the venue is. In line with the upscaled location - from out of town Butlin's centres to the heart of the capital's historical industrial centre - the line up has similarly beefed up.
The event is being held on 6 and 7 July. To help festival goers make the most of Bloc LondonTown.com has a selection of hotels in London on offer. Room rates have been slashed by as much as 84% and prices for hotels in the docklands area are now as low as £64 per room, per night.
The four-star Ramada Hotel & Suites London Docklands is now available for £74 per room, per night thanks to LondonTown.com scoring 64% off. Hotel guests can walk to the London Pleasure Gardens in less than 15 minutes and windows are triple glazed, so getting a good nights' sleep isn't a problem.
The Crowne Plaza London Docklands is another four-star hotel on offer through LondonTown.com. Rates start at £64 thanks to 84% discounts. The venue is less than 30 minutes walk from the hotel. The late checkout of 12pm might also come in handy.
