Celebration of Latin American culture returns for 13th year.

July 30, 2012, 3:49 pm -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- This August 18 th the Thames' south side will be shaking to the sounds of Carnaval del Pueblo, the annual fiesta celebrating the music, dance and all-round spectacle of South American culture. Following the cancellation of the 2011 event – owing to maintenance work in Burgess Park – this year's Carnaval is expected to be bigger than ever, with over 100,000 people lining the streets.

London has a large latino expat community, which will be out in force all over South London. The day begins with a procession of floats parading through the streets of Borough and Elephant & Castle.

The parade sets off from London City Hall and winds up in Burgess Park. Revellers can expect South American food, drink, music and dancing, from traditional rhythms to reggaeton and hip hop.
