Comic-book and graphic novel fans descend on London’s Business Design Centre

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The famous San Diego Comic Con transfers to the UK as the Kapow! Comic Convention returns to Islington's Business Design Centre on 19th and 20th May 2012. After the sell-out success of the inaugural convention in 2011, sales for the 2012 event are expected to be even bigger and attendees can find a London hotel to suit their needs on the website LondonTown.com whether making a group booking or travelling on business.

Some of the biggest names in comic-book world, film, TV and gaming will be at Kapow! and guests confirmed so far for the event include Jimmy Carr who will interview fellow comedian Frankie Boyle, while Bryan Hitch (The Authority) and TV presenter Jonathan Ross will talk about ‘America's Got Powers', their new comic book collaboration, the first issue of which was recently released on 11th April 2012.

Comic book and graphic novel fans will have the chance see live interviews with all the key stars conducted by Total Film, SFX and Comic Heroes on the main stage as well as watching screenings, attending book readings and collecting autographs.

Further highlights include an audience with Warren Ellis (creator of Planetary, Transmetropolitan, and Crooked Little Vein), Frank Quitely (The Authority, New X-Men, All-Star Superman), Mark Millar (Kick-Ass and Wanted), and Dave Gibbons (Watchmen). Marvel's Chief Creative Officer, Joe Quesada, will also be participating, representing the first UK appearance from this high profile publisher in almost twenty years. Film and TV guests are due to be announced shortly, on 3rd May.

The best of the comic world will be recognised at The Stan Lee Awards which return in 2012 with winners in categories including Best Comic, Best Superhero or SciFi Movie and Best Comic Book Hero among others, to be announced on Saturday 19th May.
